In early December 2025, CPOGS facilitated Managed Pressure Drilling HAZID and HAZOP sessions for Saipem and ENI in Jakarta. CPOGS Principal Safety Engineer Diccen Sargent facilitated both sessions and Associate Principal Safety Engineer Steve Brazier was the scribe.
ENI have contracted Saipem to drill the Geliga exploration well in the East Ganal Block, located in the waters off East Kalimantan. The exploration well will be drilled from the ‘Deep Value Driller’ drillship.
Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) is an advanced form of primary well control, typically employing a closed and pressurised circulating mud system. MPD techniques facilitate steady rates of drilling in narrow pore pressure/ fracture gradient windows using precise management of the wellbore pressure profile.
